Royal

If a modern McInturff guitar has a hollow chamber in it, that chamber does a specifically designed job as regards the amplified tone. The chamber is never a randomly-dimensioned hollow pocket. This is why the original version of the award-winning Royal represented such a huge step forward for me as an electric guitar designer. The original Royal pioneered the way towards specifically tuned chambers in an electric guitar.

Royal Flat

New Voices, New Choices

The new McInturff Royal is the newly perfected version!

The Royal features a chamber that is tuned to a specific, repeatable resonance... the Royal's chamber influences the guitar's acoustical nature in a planned, predictable way...and so, influences the amplified sound in a planned, predictable way. The benefit to the player is to have a full, rich semi- hollow amplified tone, with an incredibly even response all over the neck; there are no “live” and “dead” spots, such as is the norm for a semi-hollow guitar.

The studios I tend to work at usually have quite a few great guitars that live there. My home-base studio, Overdub Lane, has some amazing classic Gretsch, Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker and Epiphone guitars. But when making professional recordings, the attention and detail that you have to give to getting things really in tune can be a daunting task. Terry's guitars seem absolutely bullet-proof when it comes to playing in tune. Whether I put our McInturff Taurus in the hands of the most seasoned session player, or a younger much less experienced musician, it truly never lets me down.
